Changed system font on P1i

Want to change the default (at times its called “boring”) system font of your P1i device? Here’s how its done….

*Please make sure that the current firmware installed on your device is GW1 or European F/W or else it wont work on any other F/W versions. Also please be reminded that we shouldn’t be overwriting the fonts installed on your system folder (C:/). We will just basically mirroring the font files that are installed on the system folder.

Ideally, you need a font that came with four styles, Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic. But if in case that you cant find such font styles on your preferred font, you can still use even just the basic Regular font. You can try as many fonts as you want until you achieve your best results.

You’ve got the font now? Good!

-Let’s rename those fonts into:
Sans-Serif_Latin-Regular.ttf
Sans-Serif_Latin-Bold.ttf
Sans-Serif_Latin-Italic.ttf
Sans-Serif_Latin-BoldItalic.ttf
If you’ve only got one regular font then just copy itself and rename the copied file into another “style-name” until you’ve got those four mentioned font names.

-Now we need to save your font into your memory stick. I highly recommend using a memory card reader when transferring files from your computer into your memory stick as using your phone as a reader can consume a lot of time.

-Create a “resource” (without the qoutes) folder on your D:/ (memory stick). Inside resource folder, create a “font” folder.

-Copy and paste your four fonts to the font folder that you’ve just created.

-Re-insert the memory stick into your computer

-Restart the SmartPhone

-Now smile!

Should you not see any difference after those steps then just please try another font.

Mobile Blogger for p1i

Good news to all blogspot bloggers that uses P1i devices! You can now post anytime, anywhere (providing that there’s a wifi/gprs/3g signals around) with this simple application provided by Sony Ericsson. Just imagine, you were on vacation for a holiday when you itch to blog something but don’t have your laptop handy. Got the picture? Good!

Now download the application here and install it on your phone.

*tested on P1i and P990i. Should work for all UIQ3 SmartPhones.

Pictures taken by Sony Ericsson phone amazes me eversince the release of K series phones. Obviously, SE P1i is not a camera phone. How about a modification that could do these on your P1i device:

Bursting mode x6 instead of 4.
Picture quality low-66%, med-81%, high-96%
Picture size increased about 30%
Video bitrate is 512000 instead of 384000!
Video fps is 27-30 with 320/240 resolution!

Just copy the files on the archive to drive C:/resource/apps folder of your phone using Swiss Manager pro or X-plore. Make sure that Capswitch is set to “off”. Restart your phone. Enjoy!

Well here it goes…The hack for you to install unsigned applications on UIQ3 phones (P1i, P990i etc). It’s guaranteed to run on P1i Smartphones but I haven’t tested it yet on any other UIQ3 platform but it should run since they’re just siblings in terms of their operating systems.

First thing that you need to do is to download the hack application, which is developed by the way again by SWmail, here.

Now, whenever you try to install an unsigned application, your screen should show you something like this:

Just hit on continue and you’re good to go!

A game that requires Flash Plugin on P1i

Ever get annoyed by browsing a site that requires a flash plugin? How about viewing your favorite clips on your p1i but you are bugged with a lot of errors (and sometimes, this makes your phone hang for a sec)?

Well this is because your P1i Smartphone doesn’t have a pre-installed flash plugin in it. Thanks so much again to SWmail for porting such plugin on P1i device.

Here’s what you need to get started:

(take note that you need to install first the hack to allow unsigned applications to be installed)

-Install CapsSwitch and ‘SIS installer mod for Symbian 9.1‘.

-Download archive with the program from http://www.agathosyne.de/files_ext/FlashPlugin.zip

-Install FlashPlugin.

-Start Opera

-Go to More >> Settings >> Configuration >> and tick “Allow Plugins”

-Enjoy Flash support!

This is really a breakthrough in history of P1i. Too bad Sony Ericsson didn’t foreseen the need of such for their P1i enthusiasts.

Installation- Unlock access to system folders (lookCapsSwitch) -Download the archive from http://www.agathosyne.de/files_ext/w…swmail_mod.zip

- Copy contents of directory ‘C’ from the archive to ‘C:’ disk in your phone. Default language of the Walkman Player is English. To change the language copy the contents of according folder from a dir ‘Languages’ to folder ‘C:Resource’ on your phone. Accept overwrite request.
- Restart your smartphone

Sounds that its already official huh? Is it really RIP to our beloved UIQ3s?

I dont think so. This smartphone that we’re holding right now still has a future. It might wont get anymore updates but who cares? Afterall it’s rock solid stable as hell!

Now I hear you say, “Why Sony Ericsson P1i of all the phones?”. Well for some reason, its operating system (UIQ3) has been hacked by some rocket scientists who came back from Mars in 2007. Im not that sure though of the date but the most important part is that it has been hacked and there are holes that has been opened that Sony Ericsson tried to hide from their patrons.

I’ll go straight to the point now. I knew d*mn well that you’re not interested of reading about my precursors.

First first first thing that you should know is to hack/access the hidden folders inside your P1i. To begin with, your P1i primarily has 3 folders assuming that you have a removable D: drive which is the memory stick M2 installed. The other folders are the C: and Z: drives wherein the Z: is just a Rom drive that contains the original and default files pre-installed on your device. Drive C: is a drive that contains pre-installed files as well and stuff. The only difference is that we can overwrite modded files on C: so that everytime you restart your phone, it will ignore the Z: drive and load your modded files on C:.

We can then install these mods as soon as we could access those hidden folders mentioned above:

- walkman player for your smartphone;
- sound mod full – which increases the volume of the phone
- alarm mod – which helps fixing the alarm bug
- torch application from G900 – As the name it suggests, its a torch utility.

This little advance file manager could give us a hand as well in transferring files from your D: drive to the phone’s C: drive: Swiss Manager Pro

Now we proceed to accessing C: and Z: drives.

Step 1. Download all these applications.

1. pc suite (you can download from offcial website)
2. AppTRK.sis (47.1KB)
3. python-2.5.1
4. win32-py2.5
5. pyserial-2.2.win32
6. 1.py (copy 1.py to c:/)

Step 2.

Install all the software.

-Install AppTRK.sis on your phone
- Install all other applications on your PC

Step 3.
*Your computer should recognize your device.

Run pc suite——USB with your phone——Phone model
My computer——attribute ——hardware——Device Manager——com and LPT
You will say “SE P1i appliction port (com6),se pc connect port (com7)
save it it.

Step 4.

Edit the file 1.py that you pasted on C:

Open it with notepad .Find the trip “ser = serial.Serial(4) # I have COM5″ (without the qoutes)
You can use “ctrl +F” and copy paste the values mentioned above. Then change 4 to 5,change 5 to 6.
Save it.

Step 5.

Run AppTRK.sisPC suite——USB with your phone ——run AppTRK.sis——it should show connceted
If not, then change the port 2 to 1.

Step 6.
CMD and success

Open Run command prompt on windows. Run 1.py
After a few seconds,it will show”>close ,>End+Exit”. It wont show any user notifications but just let it close

Step 7.
Try it

Install SwissManager Pro and CapsSwitch
or X-Plore by lonelycat Games

Run It. Now you’re done. You’ve already got access to those hidden folders.

Next question is, how to apply those modifications?

1. Execute CapsSwitch application;
2. Switch capatibilities OFF;
3. Open up SwissManager and go to it’s configuration settings…
4. Enable viewing of ROM drives and protected folders or etc. so you can see every possible file/folder in the phone…
5. Now you have full access to protected folders on C drive…
6. You have also access to Z drive, but it’s strongly recommended NOT to touch anything there. Only you can use files from Z to copy them to C and NOT otherwise.

To make use of this and give an example I will explain how to change your installer for example. This will enable you to use unsigned Symbian UIQ application in your phone…
