There’s this crackberry saying that “once you go ‘black’, you cannot go back”. But what if that ‘black’ jumped over the fence and joined the team “green”?
In a statement coming from technobuffalo, a supposed RiM employee recently tipped that the BlackBerry Messenger will soon be coming out to Android powered devices. The revelation includes some inside information complemented with a couple of images of an installed live BBM app in an Android smartphone.
Here’s his official statement:
“I work for RIM and I was shown the latest version of bbm for android. I ran the app on the blackberry android dev phone.( The dev phone feels very cheap and unstable and the front four buttons have just been stuck on. I don’t believe this phone will ever be released to the public.) The latest version certainly looks better than the previous version.”
The RiM employee tipster also added that BlackBerry might announce the “Official BBM app for Android” this upcoming DevCon show on October 18th. While all of these looks and sounds so true, I really doubt if Blackberry will be making such an app – ever – for one solid reason — People loved BlackBerry primarily because of its messenger applications. Just imagine what could happen to RiM and their sales if people can already have the same messenger feature on their Android. Your thoughts? Say it over on the comment box below!
