Windows 7 is one of the most recently released operating system of Microsoft that has been widely accepted and used by both private and business entities. It has a lot of new features that is a big improvement to it predecessor, the Windows Vista.

Some of the enhancements of Windows 7 includes:

    • 64-bit support. A 64-bit operating system means that it can handle more processes and information, which means that it is much faster compared to the other 32-bit operating system.
    • Backup and restore. Windows 7 has a built in feature that allows users to select different files and folders and schedule backups to start automatically.
    • Home group. This feature is particularly useful if you have more than one PC in your home as it allows you to share any file or resources to other PCs running Windows 7 within the home network.
    • Search box on start menu. This box allows for easy search of anything from music, notes, emails, settings, system information, etc and the search results will appear at the start menu instantly.
    • System image. This Windows 7 features allows one to take a snap of the whole system including the operating system, the programs installed, the files saved on the hard disk, etc. This image can then be used to restore your system, even to a new hard disk, in case of system crash or hard disk failure. To fully maximize the feature of system image, it is recommended to backup the image to an external disk in case of hard disk crash.

But just like the other Windows operating system, some users reported bugs with Windows 7 and one of them are audio problems. Either there is no sound coming out of their PC or the volume is too low.

Sound problems in Windows 7 can be caused by a variety of reasons. It can be a problem with the driver, settings in Windows 7 and many more which can be easily resolved if you will just take a systematic approach in finding the root of the problem.

If no sound is being produced after the installation of the Windows 7 operating system, then chances are that this is just a driver issue. If you have a Dell desktop for example running in Windows 7, you can fix dell sound by downloading the latest drivers from Dell website. Alternatively, you can go to a reliable website which scans your PC and will give you a list of the drivers that needs to be downloaded and installed on your PC. The second option is better as this will ensure that you are installing the correct driver for the sound card that you are using and eliminate the trial and error when testing and installing drivers.

If the sound is working in the beginning and it just lost its audio capability all of a sudden, it is still safe to assume that this can still be a driver issue. Manufacturers often update their drivers to address security issues, bugs, problems and more that is why it is important to download and install the latest drivers to continue maximizing your device to its full use.

After checking the software side and the problem still hasn’t been resolved, it is time now to check the hardware aspect. Inspect the sound card if it is properly installed. Check the speakers for the volume and power control and make sure that the cables connecting the speaker to the PC are all properly connected.

The computer settings are also one place to look when troubleshooting audio problems. Go to Control Panel in Windows 7 and make sure that the correct sound card and speaker has been selected and configured. Check the volume control in system tray to make sure that the volume is set to the right level and that Mute is not enabled.

If you have an onboard audio card, you should also examine the BIOS for any errors in settings. Make sure that the on-board sound card has been activated in BIOS for it to function.

Corrupt registry entries can also be one cause for audio problems. This can be easily remedied with the use of applications that can help fix registry errors in Windows 7 automatically.

No operating system is perfect and even though it offers a lot of cool features, there will still be some small glitch that users can encounter. But will a little patience, research and troubleshooting, there is no problem that has no solution especially if you are running a very sophisticated and stable operating system like Windows 7.
