As part of its 75th Diamond Jubilee Celebration, Quezon City will be hosting a series fun and unforgettable activities scheduled on October 10 and 11.
Diamond Jubilee Mardi Gras
On October 10 at 4 PM, starting from the Amoranto Stadium all the way to Tomas Morato Area will be a spectacular parade of 500 fully costumed festival dancers from the Philippines’ biggest and grandest fiesta celebrations. The City will bring home culturally-charged and fully synchronized dance exhibitions from Aklan’s Ati-atihan, Iloilo’s Dinagyang, Baguio’s Panagbenga, Bacolod’s Masskara, and Davao’s Kadayawan. This event will be enjoyed by residents and tourists alike. It’s a chance to experience five of our country’s best festivities all in one day without having to leave Quezon City.
Grand Parade of Lights
Quezon City comes to life in a way that has never been done before. The Grand Parade of Lights is a unique parade of extensively and colorfully LED-illuminated floats. At least 10 of these floats, escorted by dancers with lit costumes as well, will pass along Tomas Morato (please refer see map below for specific route). This event on October 10, 2015 is truly a Quezon City experience, each of the floats’ main attraction is a QC landmark, educating viewers of the Quezon City heritage and instilling in them a sense of pride of belonging.
The Grand Parade of Lights will extend until October 11 from 7:00 pm to 11:30. It shall follow a different route (please see map below for specific route). The colorful parade will end at the Quezon Memorial Circle, where they will be picture-perfectly parked for a much closer gaze.
QCRocks@75 Concert
To close the Quezon City’s Diamond Jubilee year on a high note, the city will sponsor a grand concert at the Quezon Memorial Circle that will provide residents and visitors excitement and quality entertainment.
It will be a night filled with music and merriment featuring iconic bands of this generation like Parokya ni Edgar and Rocksteady, performances from stand-up comedians and appearances of notable television and media personalities. The culminating Concert is the most fitting way to rouns up Quezon City’s Diamond Jubilee Year.
