or many people, the universe and the planets were created by God or a higher being depending on the religion that you practice. However, there are a few theories of the universe that are a bit far-fetched while others seem like they could have actually occurred, resulting in the expanse that is now known as galaxies, stars, and planets.
One of the most noted theories is the Big Bang Theory. There are quite a few assumptions that have been made that could indicate that the events associated with this theory actually occurred, resulting in the universe that is now known. Laws pertaining to physics don’t change, and the universe is the same in each direction. Another aspect of this theory is that humans don’t observe how the universe appears from one central vantage point. The universe has expanded over time and continues to expand, which is why humans are no longer at the center of a vast expanse. The lightest elements that people know of were created when the universe was created. These elements became the basis of others and the rest of the universe.
One alternative is the Steady State Universe. This theory explains that the universe is constantly growing at a steady pace instead of in one large event. Matter of some kind is always created, resulting in more planets, moons, and stars. The Eternal Inflation theory is one that suggests that the universe was created during a brief time by inflating. Starting as smaller pieces of matter and elements, the universe grew over an unknown amount of time, leading to the planets that are now known. As the universe has expanded, there are new universes being created as this inflation continues throughout time. There is no ending foreseen by astronomers, which is a theory that is quite possible since more planets are discovered all the time.
